Job Opportunity: Grants Officer at Research Triangle Institute (RTI)

RTI, a renowned not-for-profit research institute, is seeking a qualified Grants Officer for the USAID-funded Western Kenya Sanitation Project (USAID WKSP). This initiative aims to establish a sustainable sanitation marketplace in western Kenya, focusing on improved sanitation, fecal sludge management, and menstrual hygiene management.


Responsibilities:

1. Conduct capacity-building initiatives for grantees, ensuring technical and financial alignment.

2. Prepare and document grants award cycles, capturing relevant information in the solicitation process.

3. Support grantees in reviewing DA1 processing requirements and tracking foreign tax reporting.

4. Monitor and verify assets held by grantees regularly.

5. Review grantees' budgets for accuracy, ensuring well-supported budget narratives for onboarding.

6. Document gaps identified during routine monitoring for effective capacity-building efforts.

7. Maintain a financial management filing system, tracking fund reimbursement, liquidations, and burn rates.

8. Collaborate with the Grants Manager to ensure deliverables remain on schedule.

9. Ensure grantees comply with periodic requirements as per grant agreement clauses.

10. Establish mechanisms for grant fund disbursement and expense justification according to RTI policies and GAAP.

11. Analyze grantees' funding requests and technical reports.

12. Provide day-to-day operational support to ensure the grants mechanism supports the project team effectively.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience (or Master's degree and 3 years) in Business, Finance, or Accounting.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) part III certification.

- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in organizations related to donors or donor-funded projects.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

- Strong analytical and review skills with attention to detail.
