Jubilant Stewards of Africa (JSA) is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to improving living standards, social ethics, dignity, and empowerment of communities. Registered in Kenya as an NGO, JSA's main objective is to provide access to education and healthcare services, increase agricultural production, promote peace, and contribute to environmental conservation. The organization prioritizes training farmers, mentorship, campaigns against drug and substance abuse, environmental advocacy, promotion of peaceful coexistence, and campaigns for responsible sexual behavior to raise a responsible and dependable generation.


OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

JSA is seeking three Program and Corporate Communication Officers to join its dynamic team. Under the supervision of the Head of Programs and Communications, the officers are primarily responsible for supporting JSA’s programming in its Health, Agriculture, and Peace Building objectives through implementing related projects and activities. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no travel is required for the officers, who will work from their homes.


PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

With the help of JSA’s Management, the officers are expected to learn and do the following:

1. Overall development of program activities, including involvement in or being informed about all progress related to JSA’s objectives in health, agriculture, and peace-building.

2. Design and implement programs and perform tasks as guided under the supervision of the Head of Programs and Communication.

3. Build a functional network of significant contacts with relevant organizations, especially those with the same objectives as JSA, to leverage these relationships to advance JSA’s vision.

4. Contribute to drafting reports, website posts, social media posts, publications, and project delivery materials.

5. Learn as required to support the implementation of project activities.

6. Perform other assignments as necessary, assigned by the Supervisor/Mentor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of an undergraduate university degree in Communication, Social Science, Community Development, Law, Health Science, Public Administration, or any other relevant field.

- Admirable communication and interpersonal skills.

- Well-informed about contemporary issues, visionary, and self-motivated.

- Excellent command, written and spoken, of both English and Swahili.

- Knowledge and interest in open parliament/open government/open data.

- Experience and demonstrated ability in working with the community.

- Excellent skills in computer packages and software applications.

- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team using initiative and judgment.

- Ability to work under short deadlines, resource limitations, and balance multiple activities and demands.
