AYAP APPLICATION |
In the pursuit of the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda in Africa, the African Union's Political Affairs, Peace, and Security Department (PAPS) launched the Youth for Peace (Africa) Program (Y4P) in September 2018. This initiative aims to empower African youth to engage actively in peace and security matters while discouraging violence. As part of this effort, the AU has appointed five regional African Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AYAP) to promote youth involvement in peace and security discussions.
Qualifications
Eligible candidates, including young women, displaced persons, and those with disabilities, should:
- Be aged between 15 and 35.
- Hold a university degree in relevant fields or have at least 2 years of peace and security experience.
- Have a track record in peace advocacy and community engagement.
- Possess strong communication skills and language proficiency in AU working languages.
- The AYAPs will work toward the five priorities of the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace, and Security (CFYPS).
